Halloween 2009

We are getting ready for Halloween, one of our most favorite holidays. Paige got to carve the pumpkin this year. She had no competition. She got to do it how she wanted. She did a good job. I see that she has the Bourgeous Halloween talent.

To start off the holiday festivities we had a ward Halloween party. One of the most favorites of the year. Of course the Bishop had to dress up. With the help of some friends he went as a tourist. Love this. Of course he loves a good joke. He even won an award for How do you move in that award.. Cool..

I threw together my costume at the last minute. It is more fun to dress up. It makes you feel like you are a part of the party. Haven't dressed up in years and it was fun.

Paige dressed up as a princess. Thanks to Kim's 8th grade graduation dress. We really had a good time. We will remember this Halloween. It was fun. Have to start thinking about next years.

Our Garden

We are still enjoying the benefits of our garden. Everything else is burned up or harvested already but we still have OKRA! Lots and Lots. I have to pick it every day. Seems to be a good thing to grow here. I have pickled it and cut it up to put in the freezer for frying. My kids always love it when I give them a bottle of pickled okra. Once a bottle is opened it is gone. It will probably be one of the things that we will always grow.

Our Week

This last week Dave decided that it was time for a vacation so he took the week off. Paige was at girls camp for the week and I have always wanted to make a run to Flagstaff to get out of the heat. We went up through Cottonwood and Sedona since we have never been there before even being Arizona Natives. I guess we are looking for that new place to live after retirement. Still haven't found it though. The drive was beautiful. We just took our time and stopped whenever we wanted to.

Flagstaff was cool but forgot about the trains. Our hotel was close to the tracks and we heard the train whistles all night since they have to blow their whistles every intersection. It really didn't bother me that much since it brought back memories of living in Winslow and hearing the trains. You do get to where you don't hear them anymore. It is just a normal everyday sound.

We got to stop in Winslow going to Girls camp and visited with some old friends that we hadn't seen in years. It was good seeing them again.

Dave and I went to Girls camp for Bishops night on Thursday. Paige was having a blast it looked like. It was nice to see our ward girls and hear about the things they had been doing all week. I think everyone had a good time but glad to be home even if it is hot.

Happy Birthday!!!

A couple of weekends ago, our family traveled to Safford for my Dad's 80th birthday celebration. When we got there, the others were still at the graveyard cleaning up my Grandpa's grave, a part of the party we missed. After everyone got back, we went out in the back yard and visited with family while some of the others played Bocce. After a while we did a family tournament and unfortunately, our family did not win.

For dinner, we had meat from Dad's smoker, potatoes, corn on the cob and biscuits from dutch ovens and chili. All of the food was SO GOOD! For dessert, we had cobbler and homemade icecream. In order to get dessert, we had to be in the family picture (genius bribe) and the pictures turned out mostly ok.
